TRC: Practice Schedule, Non-Pancake Breakfast, Swim Meet & Seeking People to Serve on our Board

Hello Tuckahoe Families;

Hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July.

Below you will find information about this week’s swim practice schedule, non-Pancake Breakfast Friday, next Saturday’s Black & Gold Meet, and seeking applications for Tuckahoe’s Board of Directors/

Practice Schedules for the Week of July 6

With the recent move to Phase three, we have a few changes to the schedule.

8 & Under Specific Change: you are now on either the Gold Team or the Black Team (see attachment) This will mean you will have more time in the water.

  • 8 & U Gold Team will practice Mon., Wed., & Friday at 8:00 am
  • 8 & U Black Team will practice Tues. & Thurs. at 8:00 am.

Here is the link for the week for “8 & Under Open Lane Sign-Ups”

9-10 Age Group: You will now be able to attend practice every day at your time slot of 7:00 am and no longer need to follow the team color schedule.

11-12 Age Group: You will now be able to attend practice every day at your time slot of 9:00 am and no longer need to follow the team color schedule.

13 & Up Age Group: You will still need to follow-up on the team color schedule.

  • 13 & Up Gold Team will practice Mon., Wed., & Friday at 10:00 am
  • 13 & Up Black Team will practice Tues. & Thurs. at 10:00 am.

If any 13 & Up swimmers would like to swim on additional days, please simply email the team reps [email protected] to let them know. It is very likely that there would be no issue of space, but if there are too many we will prioritize those whose practice day it is.

(Non)Pancake Breakfast Friday, July 10th

This year we are unable to have the traditional buffet-style pancake breakfast.

However, we will offer a breakfast “grab-n-go” style which may include options like sandwiches, muffins, oranges/bananas, and juice.

Swimmers will enter by the Snack Bar and exit out to the hill. Please continue to follow the guidelines of 10 feet apart as you are eating and clean up after yourself.

A sign up for a choice of breakfast sandwich will go out later; so stay-tuned.

Swim Meet Saturday, July 11th

Next Saturday, we will be having our intra-squad, time trails…or better known as our Black & Gold Meet!

The team reps have carefully organized the meet to ensure that CDC guidelines are followed.

  • Parents will be allowed to view their child/children from the grassy area by the pump house during their race.
  • The hill will not be used and the coaches will be on the side by the slide.
  • After your child's race please go back to the parking lot (in your car or 10 feet distancing) so that the next age group may enter.
  • We know this is not ideal and many would love to view the entire meet, but we need to be conscious of being 10 feet apart, wearing masks and the occupancy limits during Phase 3.
  • There will be volunteers in the parking lot to line swimmers up by their designated heat (a meet sheet will be sent out so that families are aware of their swimmer's event, heat, and lane assignment) which will be roped off.

Below is the setup of the meet. Please read carefully so the meet may run smoothly and in a timely manner.

1. Swimmers will be allowed to swim 3 events. Swimmers must be legal in breast and fly to swim these two events. There will be absolutely NO deck entries allowed. Coach Torey will approve any 10-under breast and fly events. If you are unsure if your swimmer can legally swim these two strokes, there will be a prompt in the meet signup to send a note to Coach Torey.

2. The warm-up schedule, as well as the seeded meet sheet, will be sent out at the end of the week.

3. Parents, please watch your child in the parking lot while waiting for their events to be called. No running in the parking lot.

4. Parents may view their child and his / her age group swim, but will need to exit the pool for the next age group. Please keep spectators to immediate family members living in the same household.
5. Face masks must be worn when on the pool deck and grassy areas, as well as in the club’s buildings, during the meet. And please maintain a 10-foot social distance from those outsides of your own household.
6. Please stay with your child until they are lined up in their heats,
7. In order to ensure that the club does not exceed allowed capacity and that our youngest swimmers are safe in the parking lot, we ask that only one parent volunteer per shift.

Additional things we want to share at this time (do keep in mind we will share more when we can and there is always a chance these days of things having to change a little too).

  • Everyone will get to swim in the meets if they want to
  • Other meets scheduled are July 18, 25, and Aug 1st. We are hoping one can include relays.
  • Swimmers will be limited to three events, 8-under may sign up for 3 but Coach Torey will approve it. Must be legal in stroke.
  • Results from our Black & Gold will help the coaches plan the meets
  • Though not in person, we will be against other teams and results will be merged.
  • We are merging meets with other teams to create a leader board across the NVSL.
  • Results of the meet will be posted at the pool and emailed out
  • The meet will be run in the order of Free, Back, Breast & Fly

Finally, on Saturday…while we are waiting in the parking lot…let’s show some Black & Gold Spirit!

More details to come but we are hoping to have some great fun decorating our cars to reflect our Black or Gold Team spirit as we enjoy some fun tuckahoe cheering! Go Tuckahoe (Clap)!
