Coaches Weekly Update
Parents,
As we head into Memorial Day Weekend and get a few days off from our regular practice schedule, it is nice to reflect on how far we have come in just three weeks. Despite the pool heaters finally turning on today, we grinded through some cold water, occasionally rainy weather, and a constantly evolving situation relating to Covid regulations and guidelines. Nonetheless, we have made it through the first month better off and better prepared for the summer ahead. The coaching staff feels well adjusted to our practice groups and getting the kids in the water and challenging them on a daily and weekly basis. The team leadership are flowing well together and we are able to fill in many of the outstanding details that have remained over the past few months when we were uncertain how much of a normal season we would be able to have. Everything has gone better than expected and we feel confident about achieving our many goals and hopes for the season.
With the start of June comes a shift in focus to competitive swimming. This may induce some nervousness and doubtfulness in some, as well as excitement and enthusiasm in others. We look forward to seeing what our Tigers can do in a meet environment, and we will be continuing to ramp up the intensity as we start trying to prepare our team to compete at the height of the NVSL on a weekly basis. Our expectation remains consistent across the board - come with a positive attitude, try your best, and trust your coaches in what they are teaching/pushing you to do. We do not place expectations on ability, speed, or confidence - we are here to work with everyone on those things and help them feel and see improvement. Enjoy the long weekend, and come back on Tuesday prepared to go! No stopping until the end of July - It’s Tiger Season! Welcome to the Tuckahoe Zoo!
