2022 Tuckahoe Swim Team Job Descriptions

All applicants are expected to apply and interview with the head coach. Coaches are expected to be available for the entire season (5/9/2022 - Late July based on position) - missing a day or two can be excused, but applicants who plan to miss 3+ consecutive days likely will not be hired. Job descriptions outline positions, but roles may be adjusted, expanded, or contracted over the course of the season. Offers will be made to coaches upon the determination to hire applicants.

Little Tigers Head Coach

The Little Tigers Head Coach will lead our developmental swim program from May through July, designing the instructional progression and implementing training plans, and managing the Little Tigers coaching staff. Furthermore, the Little Tigers Head Coach will work closely with the Swim Team Head coach to align progression to allow for a smooth transition between LT and Swim Team as well as into the Winter Swim program Levels I + II. The Little Tigers Head coach is expected to attend all LT meets and team activities, and be available as needed by the Head Coach for additional responsibilities relating to the swim team. The LT Head Coach should be available for all swim team activities.

Little Tigers Assistant Head Coach

The Little Tigers Assistant Head Coach will work with the LT Head Coach to implement training plans and manage the coaching staff. Furthermore, the LT Assistant Head Coach will help to run practices and meets, as well as be available for all team activities

Assistant Coaches

Assistant coaches must have graduated from high school and have previous swim team coaching experience. Assistant coaches are expected to attend 3+ practices/day throughout the entire season; attend every meet and execute designated responsibilities at meets, not limited to watching each race and providing feedback to athletes, running warm-ups, helping get athletes to the clerk of course; prioritize and attend necessary meetings with the head coach; assist in creating end of year slide show; attend all team events.

Lead Age Group Competitive Coach 11+/9-10/8-U

The Lead Age group competitive coach(es) will work closely with the head and assistant head coach in implementing and adjusting training plans as well as help to run workouts and other activities for their age group. The Lead Age group competitive coach will have a major role in making meet sheets and keeping up-to-date ladders for the whole age group. Lead competitive coaches will be responsible for providing timely feedback to athletes after their races at all meets as well as communicating notes/observations to the coaching staff about their performance.

Lead Developmental Coach 11+/9-10/8-U

The Lead developmental coach(es) will work closely with the head and assistant head coach in implementing and adjusting training plans as well as help to run workouts and other activities for their age group. The Lead developmental coach will focus on achieving proficiency in all four strokes, proper training techniques, and use of equipment, as well as providing timely feedback to athletes at meets and communicating/recording notes to the coaching staff.

Director of Technology

The Director of Technology will be responsible for overseeing and implementing the use of technology in team activities, training, and competition. The Director of Technology will spearhead the efforts for weekly hype videos, social media use, and the year end slide show. The Director of Technology will be available at practice as needed by the head coach for further responsibilities. The director of technology should be at all team activities and competitions to collect content for team use.

Junior Coach

High school member of the swim team who has at least 1 summer of volunteer coaching experience. Junior coaches will coach at least 1 practice every day and attend all meets and team activities. They will work under lead competitive and developmental coaches to achieve daily and weekly objectives as laid out by their supervisor.

Little Tigers Coach

Little Tigers Coaches are high school members of the swim team who have at least 1 summer of volunteer coaching experience. LT coaches will attend practice every day and be available at all LT meets, including Monday night meets as well. LT coaches will follow practice plans as laid out by LT Head and Assistant Head coach.
