Note from Coach Torey/Relay Information Attached
**Relay Information Attached
Good Afternoon,
Let me start off this note by saying WE NEED YOU THERE (More Below) We are looking forward to a wild final week of the regular season. Over the course of the next 8 days, we will have two Monday night meets, all star relay carnival, the defacto NVSL championship meet with Chesterbrook, a potluck/pep rally, progressive dinner, and our final practices for everyone not swimming at Divisionals...as 38 special said best "hold on loosely!"
These events are not for only a chosen few, but are a part of the complete Tuckahoe experience! Whether you are competing or not the team needs every athlete to be present to be at our best. Summer swimming is 10% luck, 20% skill, and 70% energy - we are not a select/travel/aau team - we are one Tuckahoe and the most meaningful part for a large percentage of our team are the moments when we are not in the pool. The memories and friendships established that last a lifetime often occurs by screaming cheers in the team area and waiting in line for all-star relays before the sun comes up and many more of our other activities. These individual experiences combine to create something intangible - something that you feel in the moment that you may never feel again - this is the power of energy, and the effects it can have on a summer swim team are strong enough to erase insurmountable deficits and reverse impossible odds. In our competitive efforts, our chances are much far better than to characterize as a 'long shot' but we need help!
Firstly, we will be canceling the 11-up practice on Wednesday 7/13. Relay swimmers will get the morning off to sleep in and stay relaxed before competing at all stars - everyone else should be at Hamlet tailgating and getting ready for a wild meet (info on tailgating sent from Reps earlier).
Friday, the seniors would like everyone to be at the potluck - our leaders have been putting together a few pump up videos they want to show the team to get ready for Saturday. More about timing/location to come.
Lastly, if this message gets lost in the shuffle of a lot of weekend updates from the team and everything else, expect and evite from the seniors to come to you this week. We ask the kids every week if they are coming to the meet and we are lucky if half as many people show up as we see hands. We know there are other things to do over the summer - I would contend that you and your child probably don't know what they are missing until they see meets like this! Wear your Tuckahoe yellow, dream big, and carry a heart full of both confidence and belief because we are going to need it all to be successful this week.
Thank you so much for everything you have done this season, even if it is to just drop your kids off at the pool - your commitment to the team has made every day meaningful and worth repeating 100 times over and I speak on behalf of the coaches and senior leaders when I say you do not know how much we appreciate it!
Torey
