Weekly Update # 11 - Divisionals

Hello Tuckahoe Families,

Over the past five weeks, we’ve watched our Tigers grow, race, cheer, volunteer, and support one another. We’ve celebrated personal bests, learned from setbacks, and built something much bigger than wins and losses. Regardless of where each swimmer finished in the standings, every member of this team has helped make Tuckahoe what it is.

Now we turn our attention to the final two meets of the NVSL season, where the focus shifts from team competition to individual achievement.

This Saturday: Divisionals

Divisionals is the Individual Championship Meet for each Division. Instead of racing one opposing team, the top swimmers from all six teams come together to compete for individual titles.

Each team may enter up to two swimmers per event, and each swimmer may compete in a maximum of two individual events. Every lineup is carefully assembled to give our athletes the best opportunity to succeed.

Unlike our regular Saturday meets, there is no team score. This meet is all about racing your best, chasing personal records, and testing yourself against the fastest swimmers in Division 1.

But Divisionals is about more than medals.

Every swim this Saturday also serves as a qualifying opportunity for next week’s Individual All-Star Meet.

Looking Ahead: Individual All-Stars

After Divisionals, times from all 17 NVSL divisions are combined. The fastest 18 swimmers in each event across the entire League earn an invitation to Individual All-Stars.

It’s one of the greatest individual honors in the NVSL and represents an opportunity to race against the very best swimmers the League has to offer.

Although the format changes, our Tuckahoe spirit does not.

Every swimmer competing over the next two weekends carries the support of dozens of teammates who helped them get there.

They’ve trained alongside teammates who pushed them to improve every day. They’ve been inspired by younger Tigers finding confidence and by older Tigers setting the standard through hard work and leadership. They’ve been cheered on by families who created an atmosphere that makes Tuckahoe special, and supported by volunteers who made every practice and meet possible.

Whether your swimmer is competing at Divisionals, cheering from the stands, or already counting down the days until next summer, they are an important part of what we’ve built together.

This team has always been about more than the swimmers behind the blocks. It’s about a community that believes in showing up for one another, celebrating every success, and setting a standard of excellence that extends well beyond the scoreboard.

If you can, come out this Saturday and cheer on your fellow Tigers. Hearing the black-and-gold on deck makes a difference, and it’s a great way to celebrate the accomplishments of our teammates.

Let’s finish this season the same way we’ve lived it all summer—together.

One Team. One Standard. One Legacy.

Go Tuckahoe! 🐅

If the timeline is any indication, hosting Divisionals is a major undertaking. It takes dozens of volunteers from all teams working together to provide the championship experience these swimmers deserve, and we’d love your help. In addition to the volunteer positions currently posted on our website, we also need experienced volunteers for several key roles. Let’s show the League why Tuckahoe is one of the premier hosts in the NVSL and continue building our reputation as a team that delivers a first-class championship meet.

Clerk of Course (2), Runner, Maestro-Data, and Timers (6): Elaine is coordinating volunteers for these critical positions and will be reaching out directly. If you’re contacted, please make every effort to help. Your experience will make a tremendous difference in keeping the meet running smoothly.

Parking

Our parking lot on Saturday will be reserved for swimmer drop-off and pass holders. Please use street parking in the neighborhood, and be mindful of driveways, intersections, and fire hydrants.

Food & Merchandise

Our Grille will be open throughout the meet with breakfast biscuits, muffins, Gatorade, coffee, and other snacks. We’ll also have Tropical Smoothie Café on site, along with Jolyn Swimwear and the official Divisionals merchandise vendor, where families can pick up championship apparel, fun suits, and this year’s Divisionals T-shirt.
