Weekly Update # Last - Individual All Stars

Dear Tuckahoe Families,

What an incredible season we had. My family has been part of Tuckahoe for 5 years, and during that time, we've celebrated four titles, one triple crown, and lost only two dual meets. This is a stellar record in the largest and most competitive summer swim league in the country. I hope you are as proud as I am of everything we accomplished together.

When I accepted Keith's invitation to be a Team Rep, I wasn't sure what to expect. By the end of my first season, the goals became clear. I set out a couple of key objectives that would make a difference for our swimmers, our families, and ultimately our team:

  • First, I wanted every family to feel welcome and part of the group. It doesn't matter if you are the parent of a Little Tiger, a solid Monday meet swimmer, or the club champion. Without each cog in this wheel, we would not be the team we are today!
  • Second, I also wanted Tuckahoe to lead Division 1 off the pool deck just as we do in the water. Sportsmanship across the division had begun to drift from the standards the NVSL expects, and I believed Tuckahoe could become the leader.
As I complete my cycle, I do so with a full heart for achieving both goals! NVSL now sees us as the north star of the division; we are consulted for collective situations, and our word carries the most weight. The League once again entrusted us with three home meets and awarded Divisionals back to Tuckahoe after three years. And we put on a spectacular meet: well-run, organized, and fast.

As a result, swimmers and families found a welcoming community to join and participate. From the season starter Parent Social (now converted into Family Social), to the potlucks (with Nick's Swim Meats), and the meet setups and cleanups, we have more new families mingling together with seasoned ones.

Of course, I would never be able to do that alone. All volunteer coordinators, volunteers themselves, and my trusty co-Team Rep Rebecca have all dedicated their time and effort to make it happen. Together, we worked on and around the deck so our coaches could focus on coaching and our swimmers could focus on racing.

I couldn't be more proud to be a Tuckahoe Tiger and honored to have been able to represent you over these two years. I hope you all have a chance to relax and enjoy some quiet time before we are back in 2027, ready to start all over, cheer on our swimmers, and bring the championship back to our house!

Go Tuckahoe on three! 1, 2, 3, GO TUCKAHOE! (clap!)
